Engineering design, and the role of materials selection in any engineering design process will be focused upon. Various materials selection methodologies will be covered with an emphasis on the Ashby method using material properties and processing charts. Ultimately, the use of computer and specialized software will be incorporated into this engineering skill development. As this is a 100% coursework and designated Integrated Design Project (IDP) course, students independently work on given project of materials selection and design. The project is se-lected specifically to reinforce the concepts and capabilities in applying selection of materials in engineering design.
