This course provides advance knowledge of topics in biomaterials and tissue engineering. Different classes of biomaterials, chemical bonding, properties, processing and application of biomaterials in medicine (both medical and dental) will be covered in the first part of this course. This is followed by regenerative medicine which includes designing scaffolds for tissue engineering, selecting suitable cells and cell culture systems for tissue engineering, predict the biological responses to implanted biomaterials and describe the appropriate testing and regulation of biomaterials.
