The aim of the course is to  introduce the principle or concept of basic genetics which is important in understanding various aspects of biology. Detail discussions include the following: the principles and patterns of inheritance of genetic is explained on the aspects of genetic application in the study of plant and human development. The effects of mutation, as well as how DNA is repaired are also discussed, followed by a treatise on population genetics. Finally a discussion of genetic technology and how it has influenced our lives.
