Course info
This course aims to study in depth some of the selected works of Asian Classical Literature. Four regions have been identified that is, Iran (Persia), the Indian Sub-Continent, China and Japan. These selected works are representative of their regions and they are among the best works produced. The course begins with an introduction to the historical and sociocultural background pertaining to the literary tradition of the works under study. The purpose of using a comparative approach in the study is to view the similarities and differences inherent in these texts and thus would enable students to identify the influences or parallelism if any.
